britta1My name is Britta Guillon, I am a student at Vancouver Island University (VIU), and am currently doing my second work co-op towards my Degree in Adventure Tourism. I had applied here at the Painted Turtle to better my knowledge and become more "rounded" in all areas concerning tourism and adventurism. I wish to one day be able to manage my own business where I am the "middle-man" between the customers and the product. I want to be able to help customers find what it is they are looking for and be able to send them to the people/products that best suit their needs. Being able to understand the accommodation end of my future plan is just one of many skills that I can learn while working at the Painted Turtle Guesthouse! I have worked with Northern Tourism BC and Tourism BC on Vancouver Island, and I plan to use that knowledge with the knowledge I learn from the PTG staff to help guests and customers of this area get the best of what they are looking for! From this, I also plan to meet new people and learn what it is that guests and customers are looking for. Places around the area that are fun to go to: Personally, I prefer the outdoors. I like walking and hiking and just being surrounded by nature. Swimming: Definitely Westwood Lake. Nature Sightseeing: If you are looking for something a little farther up the island, my favorite place is Cathedral Grove, where you can find living hollow trees and the oldest living tree on the island. It's located on the highway heading out towards Port Alberni and Tofino. Everything else I've suggested are a little more localized around Nanaimo. ENJOY! Britta Guillon, Amazing PTG Staff Member
