Hello Everyone!
My name is Sandra, I'm 19 years old and I'm from Germany. I grew up in a tiny, but nice little town called Sparwiesen, near Stuttgart. I always wanted to learn about other countries and different cultures, break out of my daily student life and do something else. So as I finished school, I had the opportunity to come to Canada for 5 months. Now I am here in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island as an intern at the Painted Turtle Guesthouse from July till November. At first, I was doubtful if it was the right decision to go there alone and also a bit scared because you never know who you come across, or if you would like it.
But now, I am pretty sure that it was the right decision!
The PTG staff, and in general most canadians, are extremely likeable and helpful. That helps a lot as a start for such an experience.
Everyday I get the chance to meet different people from all over the world. Not only do I get the chance to improve my English, but also (and this is the important factor) learn to communicate with everyone and how to deal sharpen my social skills.
Most of the time I work at the front desk and guest services, and I have fun with it.
The picture shows me at my first staff event with the PTG crew as we went climbing in WildPlay Park.
I enjoy all the great outdoor activities and the nature which is incredibly amazing.
I'm truly happy to be here and look forward to what else I will experience in Canada!
