Vancouver Island is located in the west of Vancouver, BC. Want to have a relaxing weekend away from the city? Come to Van Isle and enjoy the beautiful landscape of this unique little spot. Well, actually the first thing you will experience is that it is bigger than it seems...
There are quite a few ways to get there:.
The first and most exciting one is by floatplane. The floatplane starts at the Vancouver Harbour Water Airport located right next to the Vancouver Convention Centre. Unfortunately, this unique and scenic flight takes only 20 minutes but if you are lucky and the plane is full you might get the chance to fly co-pilot!
Once you have arrived in Nanaimo you can start exploring the island.

Moreover, there are regular flights from Vancouver to Nanaimo. Those planes stop at Nanaimo airport in the Southern part of the town, only a 20 minutes ride from downtowm.
The other possibility is to get to Van Isle is with the ferry. There are two ferry harbours in Vancouver: Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay. First of all you have to drive there with your car or take the bus.
Horseshoe Bay:
The ferry leaves Vancouver every 2 hours from 6:30 am to 7pm. It will take you on a scenic ride and sometimes you will even see whales or dolphins.
Tsawwassen:
The ferry runs 8 times a day from 5:15 am to 10:45 pm.
Both ferries arrive at Departure Bay Nanaimo
