Nanaimo! oh our Harbour Front City, how we adore the festivals that come specifically to our waters.
The past few weekends have been full of excitement.
On July 6-8 the town was beating to the drums of the 10th Annual Dragon Boat Festival. This is a very special event, not only because Nanaimo gets a chance to host teams from all across North America but also because the purpose of this event is to raise money for the fight against Breast Cancer.
The Guesthouse was lucky to have a good portion of our guests competing in the Dragon Boat Races. Our Great Room was buzzing with excitement and sportsman ship.
What a wonderful way to start out the busy summer season.
This Weekend was the extremely outrageous, Silly Boat Regatta. With 45 teams competing to raise money for the Nanaimo Child Development Center.
Local businesses meet early in the morning to build a floating structure that will lead them to the finish line. For rules and regulations check out the website at sillyboat.com/home.php
Nanaimo also hosted a BBQ Festival this weekend. Commercial street was blocked off and taken over by the aroma of barbecuing meat while people lined the street to get a taste of each vendors masterpiece. Local beer tasting was held in the Vancouver Island Conference Center.
With all this excitement it hard not to find a reason to explore Nanaimo. Whether your here for relaxation, outdoors entertainment, food and wine or a trip on the water to clear your negative ions. There is something fun and special for everyone. Do some research or make a call to our front desk agents, there is always something going on!
